REFLECTION
The Roman city of Caesarea Philippi was as far north as Jesus ever got. From
there, Jesus turned south toward his final destiny, Jerusalem. But, before
leaving there, Jesus asked the question: “Who do people say that I am?” It
remains a question for all around the world. Catholics worshipping at the
Greenland Thule Air Base, 800 miles from the North Pole, will answer that
question. At the tip of South America, where Cape Horn points toward Antarctica,
the question will be asked in the Patagonian city of Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego.
From Jakarta to Quito, from Africa to India, nearly 1.3-billion Catholics in
the wor ld will be answering with Peter: “You are the Christ.” What then, is
your answer?
SUMMER BOWLING: Please be aware that Summer
Bowling will be finishing up on September 19th. The Fall League will be starting up on
October 14th.
VOCATION CHALICE:
As
many are aware the Knights of Columbus sponsor the Vocation Chalice Program
whereby each month a family takes the Chalice home and prays for vocations to
the priesthood and religious life. The Chalice reminds the family of our
greatest gift, the Eucharist and the priesthood, without which the Eucharist
would not happen. If any family would be interested in receiving the Vocation Chalice
and praying for vocations in their own home for a month, please call Charlie
Bernard at 882-2408.
BAPTISM: The next
Sacrament of Baptism will be on Sunday, October 7th at 12:00 p.m. Those wishing to have their children baptized
must register with the Parish Office no later than Friday, September 28th.
Parents and Godparents of the
children are required to attend a short baptismal preparation session offered
by the parish. You may choose 1 or 2 Godparents, at least 16 years old, and
practicing Catholics.
RCIA (Rite of Christian
Initiation) Do you know of a family
member, friend or neighbor who is interested in joining the Catholic Church or
someone who was baptized Catholic, but has never received any of the other
sacraments? RCIA is a process by which non-Catholic adults come to understand
the Catholic faith. Participants meet weekly during the program. Sessions
include prayer, scripture sharing, reflections on Christian life and learning
about Catholic doctrine and practices. For more info call Fr. Molina at the
parish office or John & Sharon Handrahan at 882-3432.
PILGRIMAGE to Our Lady of
the Cape Shrine/Saint-Anne-de-Beaupré led by PEI Pilgrimage Ltd. is October
12-15, 2018. Cost is $390 for double occupancy. Contact Gary or Eileen
Clow @ 569-3945, Joe or Rita Drane @ 940-5871, or Ken Campbell @
566-2914.
Thank You:
We
would like to say a very BIG thank you to all our businesses, our lobster
fishermen and women and all people who

well as all the volunteers who helped make our picnic a great success.

Simon & St Jude Parish Picnic Committee. Clarence Powers, Emelda Pitre, Paula McDonald

total $32,801.09!!
Thank You: The family of
the late Cyril LeClair would like to thank everyone who gave Mass cards, floral
arrangements, sympathy cards, monetary donations and heartfelt
condolences. We would also like to thank
the many people who reached out to us by bringing food to the house. The sudden loss of Cyril was made easier with
the love and support we received from family and friends. Your expressions of sympathy were greatly
appreciated and will never be forgotten. We want to thank the first responders and EMS for their quick response; To Fr. John Molina and other members of the
clergy who helped and supported us during this time; to the West Prince Funeral Co-op for their
professional and caring service; and the Tignish and St. Felix CWL members for
providing the luncheon after the funeral; as well as the organist, choir,
readers and pallbearers. God bless! Angela and LeClair family
